The eight-day exhibition, “The Beauty of Workwear”, features a curated selection of vintage showpieces from Douglas Gunn, co-founder of The Vintage Showroom in London. This event will also unveil workwear-inspired outfits by eight local designers, celebrating the diverse professions of Hong Kong from the 1920s to the 1980s.

In addition, emerging talents, including young designers and design students, will present their own interpretations of workwear, enriching the exhibition with fresh perspectives.

This exhibition invites visitors to explore the fascinating history of workwear while challenging conventional definitions, all while emphasising themes of sustainability and innovation in design.

The three themed exhibitions:

• Co-curated by Douglas Gunn, “Timeless Threads - A Journey Through Workwear” invites visitors to explore the rich history of workwear. More than just clothing, workwear embodies stories of different eras and the individuals who wore these garments. This exhibition features 20 remarkable pieces from the UK collection at The Vintage Showroom, a renowned London institution known for collaborating with designers worldwide to celebrate the essence of workwear. Visitors are able to discover the narratives woven into each piece and appreciate the artistry behind this enduring style.
• “Echoes Across Time” showcases exceptional workwear-inspired outfits created by eight emerging local designers, each drawing inspiration from various professions in Hong Kong between the 1920s and the 1980s. This exhibition marks the debut of their creations, providing these talented individuals with a platform to showcase their innovative designs and creative visions, while contributing to the cultivation of a distinctive workwear community in Hong Kong.
• “Fashion Force” features ten standout outfits designed by local emerging talents and design students from various educational institutions. This exhibition provides a vital platform for these young designers to showcase their creativity and expand their visibility. Visitors are welcome to join and celebrate the innovative spirit of the next generation of designers.
